Sorry everyone for taking so long to write a post about spring break! Here it finally is!
So Jess arrived on Friday the 26th and was it great to finally see her again! I think it was just what we needed, as 9 1/2 weeks is way too long to go without seeing one another! And for the first time since being in Roma, I was a real tourist! Since knowing that Jess was coming for a visit, I didn't have much desire to go sightseeing alone or with other people. I wanted to see all those things with her, so it was great to finally see some of the real sights of the city, many of which I have quickly passed by but never fully enjoyed.
The first full day Jess was here, I took her on a walking tour of my neighborhood and more of the northern side of the historic city center. Our first stop was pretty basilica that I have walked by many times but never gone into. After stepping in, it was really cool and a great way to start off.
Then in my neighborhood, we walked by another church.
And then the Trevi Fountain.
After, we made our way to the Pantheon and stopped for lunch at a little bar (a 'bar' in Italia is where you can by sandwiches, coffee, sometimes pasta and/or gelato, and some mixed drinks, but usually just the first two) and Piazza Navona where we saw a one man band!
Another church I've only ever walked by.
By this time though, we were ready for gelato! And not just any gelato, the best gelato in Roma, the only place I ever go! Giolitti! It has so many flavors and it's just great quality. Jess and I had Giolitti every day! This picture was from the second day.
After gelato, I showed Jess Piazza del Popolo and the Spanish Steps (pictured below).
By this point, we were absolutely exhausted, so we headed to Scholar's Lounge and Pub, the stopping place for almost everyone in my program, for some awesome nachos, some beer, and some time to rest our feet!
And that was all just the first day! Read above the next post for more!

I've always wanted to try gelato. How is it different than ice cream? I think there is a gelato place in Davis; I should try it out and pretend I'm in Roma. :-)
